Hall's Weekly Pictorial - Frank Hall
Frank Hall was from our own home town of Newry here in Co.Down and a great personal friend of my Father, Joe Carlin. He enjoyed a varied career graduating from double bass player with the legendary Vincent Lowe's band to journalist with the Irish Independent. It was , however, when he moved into RTE that Frank really made a name for himself. Right through the 1970's and 80s the name Frank Hall dominated the airwaves. His "Hall's Pictorial Weekly" was his greatest success. Frank, himself, took the role of editor and it gave him the opportunity and the licence to regularly take on the establishment in the shape of the Government, the Church, the GAA, local councils -- in fact no one in the public eye was safe from Frank Hall and his wicked wit. Sadly Frank is no longer with us but his humour lives on in this new RTE DVD release. Playing time 72 minutes. Multi-region format so it will play anywhere in the world. Those who remember Frank Hall say he was a comic genius -- judge for yourself.
