No Place Like Home - Gerry O'Connor
Gerry O'Connor has to be the the most skilled banjo player in Ireland today. He is also a fine fiddle player. On this, his third solo album, Gerry goes back to a less produced feel and retraces the links between Irish and Appalachian traditional music. His mastery of the banjo has the name of Gerry O'Connor compared very favourably with the legendary Earl Scruggs. Backing musicians include Brendan O Regan (bouzouki, mandolin, guitar), Tommy Hayes (bodhran, percussion) and Damien Evans (Bass). This is Gerry's first studio album for five years but when you hear a true virtuoso the wait has been worthwhile.
